SCREW PILING
Screw Piling is an engineered suspended concrete footing system. The system involves steel fin screw piles torque loaded through tension and compression into the ground that is seated onto an adjustable load transfer plate which fixes into a suspended concrete slab.
In Australia, a large percentage of site soils profiles can be classified as highly reactive, which can cause cracking and damage to existing and new structures. A screw pile Polyvoid system enables the soil to shrink and swell as the slab is suspended above the ground, supported by the steel screw piles. The void former is a foam pod designed to collapse under load, during reactive periods of soil movements, once the slab has cured.
